Forced into exile from their war-torn homeland of Northern Mali in 2012, the members of Songhoy Blues later met and formed in the country's capital, Bamako. Weaned on a musical diet of The Beatles, John Lee Hooker and Jimi Hendrix, Songhoy Blues quickly developed into a positively kick ass guitar band, creating a thrilling blend of electrified Desert Blues. The band release their latest EP ‘Meet Me In The City’ on 25 October featuring Fela Kuti & Junior Kimbrough covers and brand new track co-written with Will Oldham. Songhoy Blues make a welcome return to Glasgow this November as part of The Great Western, and following their recent appearances in the city - including 2017's phenomenal turn at the Barrowlands as part of BBC 6 Music Festival - you DO NOT want to miss them. Trust us.
